Frequently Asked Questions – Bill of Materials

Creating a Bill of Materials (BOM) can seem intimidating at first. There are so many different fields an options it can be difficult to know where to start. Below are answers to the most common questions about BOMs and helpful links to help you master MyArrow’s BOM tool.

Getting Started

BOM stands for Bill of Materials. BOMs are a comprehensive list of parts to easily gather pricing, inventory, and part information for multiple parts while building your product. You can easily quote or purchase your entire BOM to help save time and increase confidence in your purchasing journey.
You can create a BOM in one of two ways. If you have an existing file you would like to upload you can click the upload BOM box, or drag your file into the box. You will then be taken to the mapping page to map the column you would like uploaded.

You can also use the Quick Input functionality to quickly upload a list of parts and skip the mapping page.

Your BOM is automatically refreshed every time you view it with the most up to date pricing and inventory. This gives you confidence that what you are seeing is the most updated data available and accurate to quote and purchase on.
Once you have opened your BOM, simply click the name of the BOM in the top left corner to edit.
Click the gear icon in the top left section of the header. You can use the settings you change if you want your buying options to be the quickest or cheapest options and filter which packaging types you would like to see in the BOM.

Purchasing & Quoting

You can purchase the whole BOM by clicking the “Buy All” button in the top right section of the header. Any parts that have been matched and have pricing will be sent to the shopping cart. Make sure that you have the correct quantity selected when you click “Buy All”.

If you’d like to only select specific parts to be added to your shopping cart, you can use the checkboxes next to the part. Once you select the parts, you will see the “Buy All” button change to “Buy Selected”.

Lastly, you can click the add to cart icon displayed in each part row to send that specific part to the cart.

You can quote an entire BOM by clicking the “Quote BOM” button in the top right section of the header. Any parts that are matched will be sent to the quote cart. Make sure that you have the correct quantity selected when you click “Quote BOM”.

If you’d like to only select specific parts to be added to your quote cart, you can use the checkboxes next to the part. Once you select the parts, you will see the “Quote BOM” button change to “Quote Selected”

When you send your quote through MyArrow, your quote will be sent directly to your Arrow Sales Representative who will review your request.

Some parts within a BOM have multiple buying options with various prices based on warehouse and package type (Tape & Reel, Arrow Reel, Tube, etc.). To view Buying options for a specific part, click “Buying Options” in the part row. This will bring up all available buying options for that Part number/Manufacturer combination. You can distribute your requested quantity across as many options as you would like. You can also select Arrow Reel to receive a custom reel sizes for a part. Once finished, click done to save your changes.

Yes. Select the dropdown next to a quantity in your BOM, then click add new quantity. From there, add a multiplier in the small box, click the checkmark, and then you’re all set.

Note: You can only have 3 quantities in a single BOM. To review more quantities, just duplicate your BOM and add additional quantities.
Yes, MyArrow allows customers to purchase parts that are not in stock. When we get more inventory, your order will be sent to you. Check out the Orders section of MyArrow to check on the status of your order.

Downloading, Sharing, & Editing

Click the download button in the left section of the header. This will bring up the download popup where you can select the columns you would like to appear in your download. By default, all columns are selected. Click the download button and your .xlsx download will start.

Yes! Click the Share icon in the header. You will be displayed a popup where you can search for an individual’s names or email on the same account as yourself. After selecting the people you would like to share with, you can give them edit or view rights. Click Submit to save your changes. You can share up to 50 people.

You can add new parts to your BOM by clicking “Add Part” in the BOM tool, or by clicking “Add to BOM” in part search. When you click “Add to BOM” you will be displayed a popup with all of your existing BOMs. You may also create a new BOM and add the part(s) selected to that new BOM.
The BOM tool has many filters available to find what you are searching for. The “Matched” section shows you filters for all of your matched parts and the number of parts in each filter. Quantity conflict suggests your quantity might not match the required MOQ for that part.

The “Not Matched” allows you to filter to only your unmatched parts in your BOM.

You can also filter by the manufacturer name, or by searching for a part in your BOM.
Click “Add Part” to bring up the add part popup. Enter your part numbers separated by a full return. Each row has a Trash can icon to allow for easy deletion of no longer needed parts.
If a Customer Part Number (CPN) has been created for a part, then you can click the “CPN” link to bring up a dropdown of existing Customer Part Numbers (CPNs) and End Customer IDs (ECs) for that part. You may also upload your BOM using existing CPNs and ECs to match against.

You can now bulk upload new CPNs, or create CPNs for individuals parts. These parts will be put into a “pending” status until purchased or quoted.
If there are crosses or alternates available for your part, you will see “View Crosses” displayed on the part row. Click the link to display the Crosses popup. Click “Replace” to replace your existing part with your desired cross.
You can delete your entire BOM on the Homepage by clicking the trash con icon for the BOM card you wish to delete. You can also delete your BOM inside the BOM by clicking the gear icon and selecting “Delete BOM”.
